Mike Sansome of Converstations addresses the question that comes up from time to time, "Where are all the women bloggers?" He lists some of his favorites and I was deeply flattered to be included in this list of women bloggers who I also admire and follow in my feeds regularly.
This post made me think about how blogging has become part of the fabric of our consultation and business philosophy at Viaspire. While blogging may take a backseat every once in a while when projects are in full swing, at the least, our blog is always our channel for a quick note of inspiration, an "ah ha" moment, or even a key take-away from a great conversation we had, an informative article or blog post we read, or a meeting or conference we attended.
Blogging, for me, has been an interesting shift in putting myself out there, making my ideas more concrete, asking questions, challenging new ideas, and applying my experiences and observations in context to our passions and practice. In the field of Internet and Experience consulting, I "create" for others. I am often considered the "trusted advisor," the one behind the scenes advising and influencing decision-making, supporting teams to ask the right questions and produce the best work within a 360 degree view of their strategy. In most cases, I am the "shadow" - a transparent advisor that helps organizations see the big picture, navigate the roadmap, and maximize the opportunities before them.
Blogging has allowed me to come out from behind the veil and publish my ideas, thoughts, experiences, passions, and beliefs for people interested in "all things c" (customer experience, communication, collaboration, community, conversation...) to read, share, feed, comment, and trackback -- all giving me the opportunity to "sit at the table" in this community of conversations instead of sitting in the second row whispering ideas over the shoulder.
Blogging has also provided me a greater sense of connectedness within our field of practice -- tapping into a wider network of thought leadership, creativity, ideas and innovation. Thanks to Mike's post, I appreciate even more what we are all doing collectively through this medium. It's nice to view the well-spring of thought leadership and voice coming from a female perspective.
Thanks Converstations! Go BlogHers!
